Google Custom Search and SSL

How to get them to play nicely.

Back to Blog

Google's Custom Search is a wonderful service which allows a website developer to put a search box on their website. Unfortunately, the scripts required for the Google Search cause some browsers to warn of non-secure content on a secure connection.

To get around this, I simply excluded the scripts on my secure pages! I didn't think this would work with the AJAX version, and it doesn't, but you can replace the AJAX version with the Google Hosted results on secure pages, leaving the AJAX version on the non-secure pages!

Simple when you know how... Rolleyes
